Ladies and Gentlemen, Colleagues and Friends,

It is my great honour and pleasure to invite you all to the 12th Congress of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry. This well-regarded venue is to be held for the first time in Poland. What makes me even more proud, I am able to invite you all to my hometown - Sopot - for the dates from the 5th to the 8th June 2014. The event, with demand and attendance growing from year to year, forms a solid platform for scientific discussion and exchange of experience for the benefit of our small patients.
The scientific programme of the 12th Congress of the EAPD will address research and clinical topics related to oral health promotion, management of dental caries, tooth regeneration and challenges in treating children with autism spectrum disorders. The social programme will present the culture of Poland and newest history of the Polish people. History that made our Tri-City famous worldwide - leading to the end of the communist system in Europe. We will have a pleasure to dine in the very heart of the place where the "Solidarity" creation has been commenced.
Sopot is well known as the summer capital of Poland and evidence of this is noticeable throughout the city. It has many tourist attractions which should be taken advantage of, particularly in the summer.
For the first time the EAPD Congress will be held in this part of Europe and this creates a unique opportunity for all Participants to visit other parts of Poland. They are easily accessible from Hanseatic Gdansk, and let me just mention a few, such as Malbork Castle, Zelazowa Wola - Chopin's house, beautiful Cracow with its Old Town and Royal Castle in Warsaw. Looking very much forward to meeting you all in Sopot at the 12th Congress of the EAPD, a perfect place to exchange the scientific knowledge in Paediatric Dentistry, enjoy Polish history and culture and preserve and expand social contacts.

Professor Katarzyna Emerich
President of Local Organising Committee
